Happy Occupational Therapy Day! We’re so thankful for Mrs. Rogers, our Occupational Therapist! She supports students across our district, helping them grow, build new skills, and gain confidence every day.

Students are also expected to remain seated and watch the game. No roaming or loitering will be permitted. As a reminder, per our student handbooks, students may face school consequences for inappropriate behavior at any school-sponsored event.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our events safe, positive, and enjoyable for everyone.

Join us in saying THANK YOU to our principals for their leadership, commitment, and the difference they make in the lives of Every Tiger, Every Day!

Wilkes County Schools is proud to announce a 2025 graduation rate of 87.1%, the highest since 2019, and a remarkable increase from last year’s rate of 77.8%. This 9.3 percentage point gain reflects the hard work and determination of our students, the support of families, and the commitment of our educators.
Although just one-tenth of a point below the state average of 87.2%, this year’s milestone highlights the impact of strong academic supports, expanded opportunities for engagement, and partnerships between school and home. Together, we are helping more students graduate on time and prepare for success beyond high school.

The drills were completed smoothly, and our students and staff did an excellent job following procedures. Practicing these scenarios is an important part of ensuring we are prepared to respond in the event of an emergency, and we thank you for supporting our ongoing commitment to keeping your children safe.

Wilkes County Schools will dismiss early at 12:00 PM on October 3rd, and schools will be closed October 6th–10th for an in-service day and Fall Break. Classes will resume on October 13th. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable break!

This is a reminder that our school buses are equipped with stop-arm cameras to help keep students safe as they get on and off the bus. Under Georgia’s Addy’s Law (HB 409), drivers who pass a stopped school bus while the stop arm is extended and red lights are flashing can be charged with a high and aggravated misdemeanor, face a minimum fine of $1,000, and up to 12 months in jail. This law was created to protect children across Georgia. We appreciate your help in keeping our students safe by staying alert and always stopping for school buses.

We’re excited to share that Mrs. Lisbeth Sanchez, our Student Support Facilitator, has been selected to serve on the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Georgia Crisis Recovery Network! This statewide initiative, led by SREB, brings together educators and mental health professionals to support students' and teachers' social, emotional, and academic recovery following crisis events. Mrs. Sanchez will collaborate with other leaders to strengthen Georgia schools' crisis response and recovery efforts. We are proud of her leadership and dedication to student well-being!

All students will go through the metal detectors at either the main lobby or the cafeteria entrance.
All car riders must enter through the front lobby.
Clean out bookbags to remove unnecessary items.
Keep large metal items, like water bottles, easy to access or carry them separately to avoid delays.
This process has been in place since January, but we want to make sure all students, especially our new sixth graders, are familiar with the routines and expectations. We appreciate your continued support and cooperation.

The 2025-2026 school year starts this Friday, August 1st! Please view our Back-to-School Page for all of the information you may need.
