Welcome to Wilkes County School Nutrition

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to enhance student learning by promoting a lifetime of wellness by serving meals that are high quality, nutritious, enjoyable, well-balanced and affordable to all students and staff by providing current nutrition information available to students, parents, and teachers.

Feeding today’s youth has never been more challenging.  The Wilkes County Public Schools Nutrition Department has met the challenge by offering a wide assortment of food choices that meet the U.S.D.A. Dietary Guidelines for Healthy Americans.  As a district, we feed over 83% of our students lunch and over 48% of the students eat breakfast at school.  This is one of the highest averages in the state.  Breakfast, long recognized as the most important meal of the day, is offered in all of our schools.

The Wilkes County Nutrition Program provides nutritious meals for students which meet the American Dietary Guidelines and the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for calories, protein, vitamins A and C, iron, and calcium for the various age groups (Pre-K through grade 12).
