Wilkes County Schools Strategic Plan

2025-2030

Wilkes County Schools is committed to achieving Excellence Without Exception, a vision that guides every decision and drives continuous improvement across the district. To support this commitment, the district has developed a strategic plan that aligns resources, actions, and goals around what matters most: student success. Our mission is to provide excellent educational opportunities today to ensure student success tomorrow. This mission serves as the foundation for our work and sets the direction for how we serve our students, families, and community.

The strategic plan is built around three main goal areas: Academic Excellence, Operational and Talent Excellence, and Climate, Culture, and Communication Excellence. It outlines clear goals, objectives, and initiatives that provide a roadmap for progress. Each goal area includes key focus areas to support student and system success. Together, these goals and focus areas help us stay aligned with our mission and ensure that every student is prepared for a successful future. Everything we do is grounded in the district’s core beliefs, which reflect our purpose as a public school system, and our core values, which define the shared commitment, integrity, and dedication of our educators and staff. An accompanying strategy map captures the plan at a summary level, showing how our focus areas support the success of every student without exception.

The development of the strategic plan was a collaborative effort led by the District Improvement Team, which includes representatives from each school, district leaders, teachers, support staff, parents, board members, and community members. The team met regularly in the Spring of 2025 to review data, assess needs, and prioritize actions aligned to the district’s mission and vision. After gathering input and refining the goals and focus areas, the final plan was presented to and approved by the Wilkes County Board of Education on May 19, 2025.
