Wilkes County Schools will resume normal operations on Tuesday, February 3. We are aware that some county roads may still have icy conditions; however, after consultation with the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office and local Emergency Management Agency, it has been determined that returning to school tomorrow is the appropriate course of action.

We ask families to use their best judgment if travel conditions in their area remain unsafe. If you believe travel is unsafe for your child, please contact your school's office. We also ask for patience with our bus drivers and school staff as they navigate morning routes and arrival procedures with care and caution.

Due to impacts from the recent snowstorm and continued sub-freezing temperatures creating travel concerns, Wilkes County Schools will have a Virtual Learning Day on Monday, February 2. All Wilkes County Schools campuses will be closed to students, faculty, and staff. Students should log into Google Classroom to access assignments or check for any work sent home by teachers, and teachers will communicate with students and families through Rooms. Due to conditions across the county, assignments will be handled with flexibility and understanding, as winter weather may continue to cause disruptions for some families. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff. Any additional updates will be shared through our messaging system, the Wilkes County Schools website, social media accounts, Rooms, and local media outlets.

Wilkes County Schools will continue to monitor for potential winter weather conditions throughout the weekend and road conditions for Monday in coordination with local emergency management and public safety officials. Student and staff safety remains our highest priority. Valentine's Day Procedures Flyers were sent home this week. Unfortunately, there was an error with one of the vendor's phone numbers.
