Wilkes

August 29, 2025

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. Throughout the school year, Wilkes County Schools will conduct a variety of safety drills to ensure that everyone knows what to do in the event of an emergency. These drills will include intruder drills, fire drills, and severe weather drills.

During these drills, staff and students will practice emergency protocols so that in a real situation, everyone can respond quickly and appropriately. We use both visual and audio notifications to signal drills and emergencies.

As part of our safety measures, all staff members wear Centegix CrisisAlert™ badges, which allow them to request assistance instantly and discreetly in the event of a medical, safety, or disciplinary concern. The Centegix CrisisAlert™ system is an added layer of protection that enhances the safety of our schools.

We also have an automated communication system that can notify parents and guardians within minutes in the event of an actual emergency. These procedures and tools are part of a comprehensive safety plan designed to protect our students, staff, and visitors.

Safety drills are conducted regularly in accordance with state requirements and best practices. Practicing these procedures ensures that our students and staff are prepared, confident, and able to respond appropriately to any situation.

In closing, please know that the well-being of our students and staff will always be our first priority. If you have questions about our safety drills or emergency procedures, please contact your child’s school.

Sincerely,

Blake Rogers
