textbook adoption public review

Wilkes County Schools is committed to ensuring all instructional materials—textbooks, digital media, and other educational resources—are fully aligned with academic standards and support high-quality teaching and learning.

As part of our upcoming English Language Arts (ELA) textbook adoption, we invite all stakeholders to participate in a public review period from May 2, 2024, through May 19, 2024, at 12:00 PM. This adoption will support the implementation of the new Georgia Standards of Excellence for K-8 English Language Arts and Grade 12 British & World Literature.

We encourage parents, teachers, and community members to review the proposed resources and provide valuable feedback to guide the final selection of K–12 English Language Arts materials. All resources are available for digital review as well as in-person viewing at the Wilkes County Board of Education.

As the new standards raise expectations for both teaching and learning, your input is essential.

How to Participate:

  1. Review the English Language Arts textbook materials.

  2. Complete the survey using the provided indicators to evaluate each resource in terms of:

    • Content

    • Assessment

    • Pedagogy

    • Ease of Use

  3. In the comments section of the survey, please note any specific strengths or weaknesses that justify particularly high or low scores.
