Wilkes County voters will head to the polls on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, to decide on the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (E-SPLOST) referendum. This is not a new tax. It is a continuation of the current one-cent sales tax used to support school system needs.
Early voting is underway and will continue through May 15, 2026.

After weeks of hard work, dedication, and hands-on experience, the Patient Care Fundamentals students have successfully completed their last day of clinicals, passed their written exams, and are one step closer to becoming Certified Nursing Assistants!

The Recognizing Inspiring School Employees (RISE) Award honors classified school employees who provide exemplary service to students and schools. Wilkes County Schools is proud to announce our 2026-2027 RISE Award finalists: Greta Cosby, Paraprofessional and Bus Driver, WWPS; Imani Robinson, Paraprofessional, WWMS; Johnny Gartrell, District Maintenance Staff; and Lou Heard, Accounts Payable Manager. These finalists will be recognized at the Wilkes County Schools Excellence in Education Recognition Ceremony on May 4th, where the district winner will be announced.
