It's that time of year again—Seamless Summer Meal time! The Wilkes County School Nutrition Department is excited to serve our school children, as well as any child aged 18 and younger in our area. Throughout May, June and July, summer meals will be available for children in Wilkes County. The locations listed below are "open sites," welcoming all children in the community to join us for a meal. Please ensure you complete the application process if you wish for your children to join the Summer Camp. Reminder, the Seamless Summer Meal Program is for children 18 and younger. The Golden Harvest Food Bank will be providing nutritious family-friendly food boxes during Georgia's hot summer months to families with students enrolled in Wilkes County schools. **Distribution Dates will be June 12, June 26th, & July 24th. **Distribution Times is 11:00 am-1:00 pm Boxes will be picked up from the front of the Washington-Wilkes Middle/High School main building. You must sign up during this registration period in order to pick up boxes on June 12, June 26th, & July 24th. The DEADLINE to register is April 26, 2024. ONLY families with students enrolled in one of Wilkes County schools are eligible to participate. A registration link will be sent in an email and text for families to sign up

Please join us for the 2nd Annual Autism Awareness Walk-A-Thon on Sunday, April 07, 2024, at 08:30 AM at Lake Olmstead Park in Augusta GA. We are excited to host a Washington Wilkes team at no cost – just scan the QR code to join our Washington Wilkes team. This walk-a-thon is dedicated to raising awareness and support for autism. It's a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together, show solidarity, and make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with autism and their families. The Georgia Parent Survey is now available, and we encourage all parents to take a few minutes to participate. What is the Georgia Parent Survey? It is a survey designed for you to share your valuable input with the Georgia Department of Education. It consists of only 24 questions, covering various aspects of your experience with your child's education. How can you participate? It's easy! You can complete the survey using your personal computer, smartphone, or tablet. If you don't have internet access, don't worry – contact your child's school to arrange a time to complete the survey there. Why does it matter? The data you provide will play a crucial role in calculating the School Climate Star Rating. Your anonymous responses will be sent directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. The Wilkes County School Nutrition Program is excited to feature Bar47 Beef at Washington Wilkes Middle School/Washington Wilkes High School on Thursday, February 8, 2024. Earlier this year, Wilkes County was awarded a grant from the Georgia Department of Education to support local Georgia businesses called the Local Foods for Schools. The Local Foods for Schools pilot program is an initiative to support Georgia farmers and ranchers and bring locally sourced foods into the lunchrooms across Georgia. Wilkes County School Nutrition is excited to showcase Bar47 Beef to students on Thursday, February 8th when we offer Beef & Cheese Nachos as our main entrée. Wilkes County native Wilkes Barnett is the owner/operator of Bar47 Beef. Wilkes and his family have produced top-quality Black Angus beef cows since 1947. We know the students and faculty will enjoy the Farm Fresh Beef Nachos. We look forward to featuring Bar47 Beef at WWPS and WWES later in February.

Please be aware that attendance is tracked throughout the entire school year.
